Koh Kret
Koh Kret is small island in the Chao Phraya River,
accessible by boat from Wat Sanam Nua, not far from the Pak Kret District office. The former Koh
Kret is cape land connected to Pak Kret district but the later some lands had been excavated for
canal where can shorten time to pass them along river. It causes the said land is not connected to
main land and surrounded with water like island.

Description
Kho Kret has succeeded in the Ayutthaya period when there are many temples
where was built on the island. When Ayutthaya was reclaimed and Thonburi was
established, King Taksin the Great relocated the Mon people to here. The Mon
people came on the island during the Thonburi period and during the reign of King
Rama II. The Mon community are craftsmen famous for their distinctive style of
pottery in many centuries. The islanders are the descendants of the Mon people,
and they retain and still remain the skills of their ancestors.
