Koh Samui

Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand covering 247 sq km and 35 km off the coast. Koh Samui 's beautiful beaches is located in the northern and eastern coasts such as Hat Chaweng and Hat Lamai where accommodation can be found.

Description

Other beaches including Hat Choeng Mon, Hat Na Thon and Hat Mae Nam is major island where shops, restaurants and tour agencies are settled. Lamai Bay in the southern are phllic rock formations called Hin Ta and Hin Yai. A path is connecting to three waterfalls called Namtok Hin Lat, Nomtok Lat Wanon, and Namtok Na Muang. Elephant riding is an interesting activity at the Na Muang waterfall.

There are some Buddhist monuments and temples on the island as follows : Phra Yai ( a massive seated Buddha image), Phrathat Hin Ngu (a stupa containing the Buddha's relics), Chedi Laem ( a golden stupa), Wat Khunaram (containing the dead body of Luang Pho Daeng not decaying).

Local Transportation

  • Bus: Air-conditioned buses from Bangkok leaving at Bangkok's southern bus terminal (near Central Pinklao Department Store). It takes fourteen hours to to Koh Samui.
  • Train: Leaving Bangkok is Hua Lamphong railway station. It takes about sixteen hours to Surat Thani. You can choose express train which takes time less than thirteen hours.
  • Air: Take a flight leaving Bangkok to Suratchthani province at International Airport everyday.
  • Before you will travel to each place, please make sure about way to go there including both time schedule and open-close time.
