Phare Province

Phare province was town of literature. During the Khmer era, the town name was "Muang Wiang Ko-Sai" which mean "faille" in English language or "Phar Phae" in Thai language. Afterwards King Rama V began governing in precinct style. Finally, it was established to Phare province in the reign of King Rama VII in 1933.

   
 
 

Phare province is covering area about 6,538 square kilometres and its population is about 471,361 persons. There is Yom river flowing through the province. There are many Natural and National Parks such as Mae-Yom National Park, Wiang Ko-Sai National Park and Phra Nang Khoi Cave.

Local Transportation

  • Car: Take highway no. 1 ( Phaholyothin Rd. ) and take highway no. 11 at Takfar district, Nakhonsawan province after that passing Phichit, Phitsanuloak and Udharditch province to Phare province. Total distance is about 555 kilometres.
  • Bus: Both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses leave Bangkok's Northern and North-Eastern Bus Terminal (Mochit 2) to Phare province daily.
  • Train: No direct train to downtown of Phae province but you can take train to Denchai district, Phare province at Hualamphong and then take a bus to downtown.
