Ratchaburi Province

Ratchaburi province near Bangkok is in the Western of Thailand bordered to the Gulf of Thailand on the right side and to Samutsongkarm province on the left side. It appeard since prehistoric times (Khmer era or Thawaravadee era). This town was belonging to Siam in the Sukhothai era in year 1257 when Sukhothai got victory against Khmer. The town was relocated many times. Until year 1897, it was moved to this location as present.

Ratchaburi province is covering area about 5,196 square kilometres and its population is 820,000. Most area is mountains and hills on the left side but another side is plain. Most people earn living with agriculture and domestic animals. There are many attractive places such as Khao-Bin Cave, Khang-Krown Cave (Bat Cave) and Damnernsaduak Floating Market.

Local Transportation

  • Car: Driving along highway no. 4 (Phetkasem Road) passing Nakhonpathom province to Ratchaburi province.
  • Bus: Air-conditioned buses leave Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal to Ratchaburi province.
  • Train: Take train to Ratchaburi province from Bangkok's Hualamphong Terminal Railway Station and Thon buri Railway Station.
